🪵 Wood Fence

The Wood Fence is the most basic type of fence in Stardew Valley. It is inexpensive to craft and available from the beginning of the game. Wood Fences are used to enclose animals, protect crops, and organize farm layouts, but they decay faster than other fence types.

Unlocked: Immediately available from the start of the game.

⏳ Durability

Lasts for approximately 20–30 days before decaying.
Can be replaced easily due to low cost.
Repairing requires placing a new Wood Fence on top of the old one.

📋 Usage

Commonly used in the early game to pen animals or section off crops.
Connects seamlessly with Gates for player access.
Can serve decorative purposes when designing the farm.

💡 Strategy

Pro Tip: Upgrade to Stone or Hardwood Fences as soon as possible — they last much longer than Wood Fences and reduce the need for constant repairs.

Best for temporary enclosures or decoration in the early game.
Avoid building large-scale Wood Fence setups unless you’re prepared for frequent maintenance.
