๐๏ธ Trash Can
The Trash Can is one of the starting tools in Stardew Valley, given to the player at the beginning of the game. It is used to permanently delete unwanted items from the inventory. By default, items discarded in the Trash Can are lost without recovery, but upgrading the Trash Can allows players to reclaim a portion of an item’s value as gold.
โ๏ธ Uses
The Trash Can is primarily used to manage inventory by discarding items:
- Deletes any unwanted item directly from the inventory
- Starting Trash Can provides no return on discarded items
- Upgraded versions return a percentage of the item’s value in gold
- Remains usable even while Clint is upgrading it
๐ผ Upgrades
The Trash Can can be upgraded at the Blacksmith by providing bars and paying gold. Each upgrade increases the percentage of the item’s value returned when trashing it.
Upgrade | Bars Required | Cost | Reclaimed Value |
---|---|---|---|
Copper Trash Can | 5 Copper Bars | 1,000g | 15% |
Steel Trash Can | 5 Iron Bars | 2,500g | 30% |
Gold Trash Can | 5 Gold Bars | 5,000g | 45% |
Iridium Trash Can | 5 Iridium Bars | 12,500g | 60% |
๐ก Tips & Strategies
- Consider upgrading once your farm produces higher-value items to maximize returns
- The Iridium Trash Can is especially useful when discarding expensive artisan goods or rare items
- Upgrading early isn’t essential, but it becomes profitable later in the game
- Remember: once trashed, items cannot be retrieved, only partially reimbursed
