โ› The Mines

The Mines are a 120-floor dungeon located in the Mountain region of Stardew Valley. They are a primary source of ores, gems, geodes, and monster loot, and serve as one of the game’s most important locations for progression. Each floor becomes progressively more dangerous, with new enemies, rocks, and treasures appearing as the player descends.

๐Ÿ“ Access

  • Located in the northeast corner of the Mountain, near the Adventurer’s Guild.
  • Available from Spring 5, Year 1 onward, when the rock blocking the entrance is removed.
  • Open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily.

๐Ÿ“ Structure

  • 120 floors total, grouped into themed sections (stone, ice, lava, and dark floors).
  • Ladders appear when rocks are broken or enemies are defeated, allowing descent.
  • Elevator checkpoints every 5 floors let players resume progress later.
  • Treasure chests found on certain milestone floors contain weapons, boots, or items.

๐Ÿ‘น Enemies

The Mines contain a wide variety of monsters, which differ depending on floor depth:

๐Ÿ’Ž Rewards & Resources

  • Copper, Iron, Gold, and Iridium Ore (later floors).
  • Gems such as Amethyst, Topaz, Emerald, Ruby, Diamond.
  • Geodes and Omni Geodes from rocks and nodes.
  • Monster loot including Bat Wings, Solar Essence, and Void Essence.
  • Treasure chest rewards on milestone floors.

๐Ÿ† Completion

  • The bottom (floor 120) rewards the Skull Key, granting access to Skull Cavern in the Desert.
  • Completing the Mines is required for late-game content and progression.

๐Ÿ’ก Strategy

Pro Tip: Bring food, bombs, and upgraded weapons — efficiency and survival are key to progressing quickly through the Mines.
  • Upgrade your Pickaxe early to break rocks faster and conserve energy.
  • Bring torches or glow rings to improve visibility in dark floors.
  • Use elevators strategically — aim to reach checkpoint floors before leaving.
  • Prioritize Dust Sprites for Coal farming and the Burglar’s Ring reward.
  • Save strong food like Spicy Eel or Cheese for deep floors with heavy combat.
