๐Ÿ  Farmhouse

The Farmhouse is the player’s permanent residence in Stardew Valley. Starting as a small single-room home with a bed, fireplace, TV, and basic decor (based on farm map choice), it serves as the hub for resting, cooking, storage, and relationship progression. The farmhouse can be upgraded and renovated through Robin at the Carpenter’s Shop to unlock new rooms and features.

๐Ÿ  Interior Features

  • Initial layout is a 9×5 outer footprint (10×7 inner) with a bed, fireplace, TV, and decor based on chosen farm type.
  • All furniture, wallpaper, and flooring are customizable using items from Pierre’s, JojaMart, or the Catalogue.
  • Upon marriage (or if Krobus moves in), an extra themed room is automatically added.

๐Ÿ›  Upgrades

Each upgrade takes Robin 3 days to complete.

Upgrade Level Cost Changes
1st Upgrade 10,000g + 450 Wood Adds a kitchen (with fridge and counter) and a separate bedroom with a double bed. Unlocks marriage.
2nd Upgrade 65,000g + 100 Hardwood Adds two rooms (one empty, one with crib & child beds) and expands kitchen and bedroom. Unlocks children and house renovations.
3rd Upgrade 100,000g Adds a cellar accessible from the kitchen, with 33 casks (expandable up to 189) for aging artisan goods.

๐Ÿ— Renovations

Available after the 2nd upgrade. Renovations are instant, and can be removed for a full refund if the space is empty.

๐Ÿ’ก Strategy

Pro Tip: Prioritize the first upgrade early to unlock cooking and marriage. Save up for the cellar, as aging artisan goods in casks is one of the most profitable late-game strategies.
  • Plan resource gathering for Hardwood early in Year 2 to afford the 2nd upgrade.
  • Renovations let you customize your home both aesthetically and functionally — and can be undone if needed.
